Hope
Today I would like to share a few thoughts on Hope. Many people over the years have asked me this question, “‘Where do you find Hope?” I find it in the whisper of a client who has been diagnosed with a terminal disease, in the whisper of someone suffering with great despair and depression, in the whisper of a loved one who is trying to kick a drug addiction. Hope, that dream of a better future or a better life, is found in our willingness to be engaged in the struggles and suffering within ourselves and the world that surrounds us. I have told many clients that their willingness to come and talk to me is the signpost of Hope staying alive. Hope is not a bystander, a victim of situations or circumstances, drowning in the Water of Grief. Tonight, I just returned from the jail to put some money in the kiosk for a dear imprisoned inmate so that he could buy a few things at the commissary and make some phone calls. I left with some sadness in my heart but also felt I was helping to keep Hope alive.
Hope is rekindled when all has been lost and a loving hand reaches out and touches your soul. Stay strong, keep Hope alive!
